Philip Zimbardo, former president, American Psychological Association

“The Power of Persuasion: How We’re Bought and Sold” is an eye-opening journey into the world of influence and manipulation. Robert Levine, a respected psychologist with over 40 years of experience, takes readers behind the scenes of persuasion, revealing the subtle and sometimes shocking ways our decisions are shaped by others.-

In this compelling read, you’ll learn:

• The three key elements of persuasiveness: perceived authority, honesty, and likability
• How professional salespeople and marketers craft their pitches for maximum impact
• The psychological principles that make us vulnerable to persuasion
• Real-world examples of persuasion techniques in action, from car dealerships to cult recruitments
• Practical strategies to recognize and resist unwanted influence

Levine’s writing style is accessible and engaging, making complex psychological concepts easy to understand for general readers. He uses a mix of personal anecdotes, scientific research, and real-life case studies to illustrate his points, ensuring the material is both informative and relatable.

“The Power of Persuasion” is more than just an exposé of persuasion techniques; it’s a guide to navigating a world where influence is omnipresent. By understanding the mechanisms of persuasion, readers will be better equipped to make choices aligned with their own values and interests, rather than falling prey to skilled manipulators
