Book description

Og Mandino’s “The Greatest Salesman in the World” is a timeless self-help classic that weaves powerful life lessons into an engaging parable. The story follows Hafid, a poor camel boy in ancient Jerusalem who dreams of becoming a successful salesman. Through a series of events, Hafid receives ten ancient scrolls containing the secrets to success in both sales and life.

The book is divided into two parts. The first half narrates Hafid’s journey, while the second presents the wisdom contained in the ten scrolls.

Each scroll focuses on a fundamental principle:

  • Form good habits and become their slave
  • Greet each day with love in your heart
  • Persist until you succeed
  • You are nature’s greatest miracle
  • Live each day as if it were your last
  • Master your emotions
  • Laugh at the world (and yourself)
  • Multiply your value every day
  • Act now
  • Pray for guidance

Mandino’s approach emphasizes personal growth, positive thinking, and ethical behaviour as the foundations of success. The book teaches that true wealth comes not just from material riches, but from happiness, love, and inner peace.

The author recommends reading each scroll three times a day for thirty days before moving to the next, a process that takes about ten months to complete. This method is designed to ingrain the principles deeply into the reader’s mind and behavior.
