Author biography

Paul Hawken is an environmentalist, entrepreneur, and bestselling author who has dedicated his life to environmental sustainability and changing the relationship between business and the environment. He founded Erewhon, one of the first natural food companies in the U.S., and later co-founded Smith & Hawken, a retail and catalog company. Hawken has authored several influential books, including “The Ecology of Commerce” and “Natural Capitalism,” which have been translated into multiple languages and read by world leaders.

As the founder of Project Drawdown, he led a comprehensive effort to map and model solutions to reverse global warming. Hawken has appeared on numerous media outlets and his writings have been featured in prestigious publications such as the Harvard Business Review and The Wall Street Journal. He has received multiple honorary doctorates and continues to be a leading voice in the environmental movement, speaking at conferences and advising CEOs and heads of state on economic development and environmental policy. Paul currently resides in the San Francisco Bay Area.
