Jane Roberts (1929-1984) was an American author, poet, and psychic medium best known for channeling the entity known as "Seth." Born in Saratoga Springs, New York, Roberts attended Skidmore College before embarking on a prolific writing career. In 1963, she and her husband Robert Butts began experimenting with a Ouija board, leading to the emergence of Seth, an "energy personality essence" that Roberts claimed to channel. For over two decades, Roberts held regular trance sessions, during which she spoke as Seth, with Butts transcribing the messages.
Roberts authored numerous books, including the ground-breaking "Seth Speaks: The Eternal Validity of the Soul" (1972), which became a cornerstone of New Age philosophy. Her work explored consciousness, reality, and the nature of the soul, challenging conventional beliefs about existence and personal growth.
