He spent 12 years at Amazon, serving as Vice President and as Technical Advisor to Jeff Bezos. Bryar played a crucial role in developing and implementing Amazon's innovative management practices and was instrumental in launching key products like Kindle, Amazon Prime, and Amazon Web Services. After leaving Amazon, he served as COO at IMDb and RedMart. Bryar co-authored the bestselling book "Working Backwards: Insights, Stories, and Secrets from Inside Amazon," which provides an insider's perspective on Amazon's unique approach to culture, leadership, and best practices. He is also the co-founder of Working Backwards LLC, where he advises companies on implementing Amazon's management principles. Bryar holds a degree from Cornell University and currently resides in Seattle, Washington.
